Universität Hamburg invites applications for a Research Associate in accordance with Section 28 subsection 3 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) The position commences on Oct 1st, 2017.
It is remunerated at the salary level TV-L 13 and calls for 39 hours per week.
The fixed-term nature of this contract is based upon Section 2 of the Academic Fixed-Term Labor Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The term is fixed for a period of 2 years.
The University aims to increase the number of women in research and teaching and explicitly encourages qualified women to apply. Equally qualified female applicants will receive preference in accordance with the Hamburg Equality Act (Hamburgisches Gleichstellungsgesetz, HmbGleiG).
Duties primarily include research and teaching. Research associates can also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
- five teaching hours p/w (2,5 courses per semester) as part of the Master’s program in Jewish Philosophy and Religion. Courses can be held in English or German
- cooperation with other Institute’s members in administrating the Master’s program, especially course guidance and counselling service
- organization of lectures, workshops, etc.
A university degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate. A PhD in Jewish Studies or in an equivalent field is required, preferably with an emphasis in Early Modern or Modern and Contemporary Jewish philosophy and thought. Candidates with knowledge of languages relevant to their field of expertise, plus English and German are given prior consideration. Teaching experience and acquaintance with German academic administrative procedures are desirable.
