New Hungarian legislation threatens the existence of the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest. Most of you will know that the Jewish Studies programme has been one of the most important academic outlets to promote high standard academic Jewish Studies over the past 25 years. It has also been an important partner for other research institutions and university departments in this part of Europe. The EAJS has written to the Hungarian Minister of Education, suggesting not to pursue this legislation.
