Description
Edward van Voolen studied Art History and History at Amsterdam University, and received his rabbinic ordination at Leo Baeck College, London. From 1978 till 2013 he was curator at the Joods Historisch Museum Amsterdam. He curated numerous exhibitions on Jewish art, architecture and culture. As a free curator, he made an exhibition on Holy Places for MAS, Antwerp, 2014. He consults for Jewish museum and serves as a juror for architectural projects. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal for Modern Jewish Studies, Jewish Cultural Studies and Jewish Art. He lectures at several universities, and publishes on Jewish art, religion and culture. He currently teaches at the Abraham Geiger Kolleg at the University of Potsdam.
