Description
Peter Lanchidi earned his PhD from the Ben-Gurion University as an Azrieli Fellow in 2022 on the topic of Kabbalah and Freemasonry. His dissertation explored the Kabbalistic-Masonic art of David Rosenberg, a Freemason rabbi who was a member of lodge of aristocrats in the Paris of the July Monarchy (1830–1848). Peter holds an MA in Jewish studies from Stockholm and Heidelberg, and a BA in art history and aesthetics from Budapest. Earlier, he practiced law, in which he earned a PhD in 2011. Currently, Peter teaches in the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest and is part of an Israeli research project on Jewish Western Esotericism. His research area is Freemasonry, Jewish-Christian relations within Freemasonry, Jewish Western Esotericism, Kabbalah, lithography, and Masonic visual heritage of the nineteenth century.
