Description
Felicia Waldman (PhD in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest, 2001) is associate professor at the Center for Hebrew Studies, Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest. She coordinates the Center and the Goldstein Goren MA program in Hebrew Culture and Civilization. She is a longstanding member of several international academic associations, visiting professor at the State University of Milan, Paul Valery University of Montpellier and “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iasi, and guest professor at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute of Bucharest. Her expertise covers Jewish mysticism, Romanian Jewish history and heritage, Holocaust education, public policies and practices of remembrance, politics of identity in multicultural contexts, lessons of history in migration and integration. She has published 4 books and over 50 articles and has co-edited 4 volumes on these topics. During 2001-2010 she also edited the Studia Hebraica academic journal. In the last 20 years she coordinated 13 international research projects on the Romanian Jewish history and heritage, organized over 20 training sessions in Holocaust education for history teachers, and was invited to deliver papers in over 100 international conferences. She has also been consultant for 4 documentary films and curator to 4 exhibitions. She is Deputy Head of the Romanian Delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, member and former Chair of the organization’s Education Working Group and member of its Committee on the Roma Genocide.
