Description
I am now retired, so the main areas of Teaching ticked above (that I used to have) are no longer relevant, though I continue to research and publish, in the areas as indicated. I taught Jewish studies for 20 years at Oxford, then 8 years as UNESCO Chair in Jewish and Interfaith Studies at Birmingham, before moving to Poland in 2011. I had been a member of EAJS for a number of years, but my membership lapsed at about that time. I originally trained as an anthropologist, but then moved into Polish Jewish studies, Holocaust studies, and museum studies. I am chairman of the recently established European Association for Holocaust Studies.
