Description
My research and academic ambitions are fueled by a desire to combine academic research, university teaching and public outreach. It is this very combination that defines my personal – public and academic – profile.
My main research areas are Jewish Studies, Migration Studies, North American Studies and the history of Nazi Germany. My fields of specialization are German Jewish history in Modern Times, American Jewish History after 1945, the African American Civil Rights Movement and Jewish Migration in general. In most of my research endeavors I apply a transnational approach to the respective topics. Furthermore, I have a strong interest in theoretical or philosophical questions of history and I also integrate tools, methods and topics of Cultural Studies. Thus, my areas of expertise are in History, Jewish Studies, Cultural Studies, and Political Theory/Philosophy.
