Description
Dr Haris Dajč (1983), historian, has been working at the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of History since 2010 (Research assistant 2010, Assistant 2013, Assistant Professor 2016, MA History 2008 Belgrade University, MA Central and South-East European Studies 2011 SSEES UCL, PhD History 2015 Belgrade University). His undergrad courses are: Early Modern History, World History 19-20th century, US State and society, History of Mediterranean 16-19th century. Postgraduate courses: Balkans in Modern History, History of Mediterranean 16-19th century, History of Jews in Southeast Europe 16-20th century. His archival research was focused on Serbian and British archives. He has been researching since 2008 in the National Archives (Public Record Office) records on Turkey, Venice, Balkans and Levant in 18th, 19th and 20th century. In Belgrade most archival experience he got in the Historical Archives of Belgrade on Jewish history. Some of the results were included in the paper on history of Belgrade synagogues since 1945. For that research he and Professor Nikola Samardžić were reward by the Federation of the Jewish Communities of Serbia in 2012. Dr Dajč was a research fellow at University of Padova in 2015, working in Archivio di Stato, Venice. He was visiting lecturer at University of Vienna, Institut für Politikwissenschaft in 2016. He has been working as the coordinator of the double degree master program of the Faculty of Philosophy and the UCL since 2012 and is the secretary of the National project Modernization of the Western Balkans (2011-2016). Haris Dajč was the sole representative from the Balkan region on the Provenance Research Training Program organized by the ESLI (European Shoah Holocaust Institute) and the CLAIMS (the Conference on the Jewish Material Claims Against Germany) in Athens in June 2014. Haris Dajč is Nahum Goldman alumni and also alumni of the Israeli Foreign Ministry diplomatic seminar for the Young Jewish leaders in 2015. He has been actively involved in projects of the Federation of the Jewish Communities of Serbia and Belgrade Jewish Community. He is also a coordinator of the project “Research, Classification and Creation of the Date Base of Immovable and Movable Property of Belgrade Jews” that is done for the Jewish Belgrade Community. Haris Dajč is a member of a program council of the City of Belgrade for the concentration camp Staro Sajmište. He is a founder and chairman of Serbian Cricket federation and international rugby match official. His Phd thesis The Dusk of the Old Mediterranean: Ionian island 1774−1815 was published in 2016 by the NBI research center and Hera publishing house. He was elected as a Vice president of the Belgrade Jewish Community in November 2016.
