Main research activities
The Georg Eckert Institute conducts
application-oriented, multidisciplinary
research into textbooks and educational media,
informed primarily by history and cultural
studies. It also provides advisory services to
national and international education
policymakers, practitioners and organisations,
and acts as a coordinator and mediator in
international issues and projects around
textbooks. These activities include monitoring
and advising textbooks on Jewish-related
issues.
For example »Das Objekt zum Subjekt machen. Jüdische Alltagskultur in Deutschland vermitteln«. With the joint project »Das Objekt zum Subjekt machen. Jüdische Alltagskultur in Deutschland vermitteln«, coordinated at the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture - Simon Dubnow, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has selected a project for funding whose goal is to sustainably reduce anti-Semitism. For this purpose, research in cultural history is combined with practical textbook research. The results are prepared for teachers in a practice-oriented manner.
