Main research activities
The first and fundamental task of the chair of "Old Testament Literature and Exegesis" is to analyse and interpret the texts of the Old Testament historically, in a literary and, above all, theologically, in a methodically and hermeneutically reflected manner, the historical and literary levels of meaning and possibilities of understanding biblical texts and to open them up for a theological interpretation of existence and action orientation in the present. There is a delightful variety of aspects - biblical languages; Methodology and hermeneutics of text interpretation, social and religious history; Archaeology; History of reception and impact; literary aesthetics; Narrative technique, among other things - also touched and endeavoured in an interdisciplinary manner.
