Main research activities
Birmingham offers teaching and research in Second Temple Judaism, especially the Dead Sea Scrolls, as well as Holocaust Studies, Representation of the Holocaust, and Jewish-Christian Relations both at Undergraduate, Taught Postgraduate and Doctoral Level. Staff in the Department have an excellent track record of attracting substantial amounts of funding for Jewish Studies projects now substantially exceeding a quarter of million pounds. Finally, the Department has close links to the city including the local Jewish community and hosts a vibrant programme of evening classes and public lectures bringing leading international research in Jewish Studies to the city.
