Main research activities
Among the numerous research projects conducted by the research staff of the Department, there are also those in the field of Jewish studies. Professor Eugenia Prokop-Janiec published several books on Polish-Jewish literature, among others: Polish-Jewish Literature in the Interwar Years (2003), Polish-Jewish Frontier. Topographies and Texts (2013); edited and co-edited the volumes of The Jewish Theater in Krakow (Krakow 1995); Poles - Jews: cultural and literary contacts (Krakow 2014); “Polin” vol. 28: “Jewish Writing in Poland” (2016); she was the Head of the research project “Polish-Jewish Cultural and Literary Relations. History and Present” (Foundation for Polish Science), 2012-2015.
Professor Roma Sendyka is the Head of the research project Awkward objects of genocide. Vernacular art on the Holocaust and ethnographic museums, developed within the project Transmitting Contentious Cultural Heritages with the Arts: From Intervention to Co-Production (Horizon2020, Reflective Society, 2016-2019) and of a project Uncommemorated Genocide Sites and Their Impact on Collective Memory, Cultural Identity, Ethical Attitudes and Intercultural Relations in Contemporary Poland (Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the National Programme for the Development of Humanities); 2016-2019.
