Awards degrees in Jewish Studies as a sole or major componentBA Religion: You will study Islamic, Buddhist, Jewish, and Christian sources, and examine the place of religion in the world today. Study the origins of Judaism and Christianity, and learn about history, ancient literature, and languages. Discover the diverse cultures of the ancient Mediterranean world. Use archaeology and ancient texts as windows to the religious pasts that continue to shape the civilisations of our world. Including: Hebrew Bible; Jewish Thought and Practice; Religions in the Ancient Mediterranean.
BA World Religions and Theology: You'll study aspects of history, archaeology, art, philology, philosophy, psychology, sociology, literary and cultural studies, to examine the diversity of religions and the changing understanding of religion in their cultural and historical contexts. You will be able to trace major transformations in Western culture from its roots in biblical monotheism and antique philosophy to the present day. Including: Origins and sacred texts of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; Hebrew; The philosophical and theological debates between Jewish, Christian and Islamic thinkers in the Middle Ages; Historical and literary approaches to biblical texts.
MPhil Contextual Theologies and Interfaith Relations: Including religions, politics, ethics and pluralism in multiple contexts (e.g. Global South and Global North) with a particular focus on religion and secularity; religion and human rights; religion, conflict and peace; religion and race, caste, gender, sexualities; and religion and postcolonial/decolonial critique; Liberationist and interreligious theologies that blend interfaith dialogue with the themes of justice, peace, reconciliation and the integrity of creation involving Buddhist-Christian, Buddhist-Muslim, Hindu-Muslim, Christian-Muslim and Jewish-Christian and indigenous traditions.

Main research activities
Peace Studies: engaged in research on a wide variety of themes related to the core interests of the School in ecumenical theology, intercultural theology and inter-religious studies (especially Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism); peacebuilding, non-violent theory and praxis, conflict resolution and reconciliation. These include topics such as the role of religion in violence and peace, the international politics of human trafficking, geopolitics and identity politics, cross-cultural and inter-religious dialogue on God, international intervention in ethnic conflict, theological engagement with religious fundamentalism, and truth, memory and justice in post-conflict societies.
Religious Studies: 1) Religions, ethics and pluralism with a particular focus on religion and secular; religion and human rights; religion, conflict and peace; religion and race, caste, gender, sexualities; and religion and postcolonial/decolonial critique. 2) Ecumenical dialogue with a particular focus on ecclesial communities and the ecumenical movements as historical locations of resistance to colonising impulses. 3) Interreligious dialogue and themes of justice, peace, reconciliation and integrity of creation involving Buddhist-Christian, Buddhist-Muslim, Hindu-Muslim, Christian-Muslim and Jewish-Christian and indigenous traditions.
