Main research activities
Middle Eastern Studies in Groningen represents the modern Middle East with the main focus on current developments. There are four key themes: history, politics, culture and religion. The study of Arabic or Hebrew is linked to a stay in the Middle East as an essential part of this training. Middle Eastern Studies Groningen offers broad knowledge and expertise that is much needed at this time.
Jewish Studies research areas include the modern history of Jews from the Middle East and North Africa; transnational Jewish networks in the nineteenth and twentieth century; Middle Eastern History; Jewish History; Midrash; contemporary Israel.
